Music has been said to be able to “soothe the savage beast”. This may very well be true, but i’ve seen a bunch of dogs get really annoyed by the crap coming outta peoples car stereo speakers in my day. I mean, have you heard the baloney that people subject themselves to, lately? It’s enough to drive a labrador to suicide…
Joe Coffee have been playing music as a group since 2001. The band’s pedigree in the “hardcore scene” speaks for itself, but does NOT speak for the band. While still having ties to said scene, Joe Coffee does not play “hardcore”, per se. This is a concious effort. With all the heavy metal in baggy clothes that is not only passed off as “hardcore”, but highly touted and lauded as the greatest “true” music inĀ “hardcore”, it’s enough to turn a veteran musician involved in that scene to travel other avenues of communication.
We’re not reinventing the wheel, here folks. It’s rock. It’s punk. It’s soul. It’s what you get out of it. Someone once called the group “thug pop”. Judging by a good deal of the audience of older, tattooed and seen better days ne’er do-wells that comprise their following - they weren’t too far off the mark. The heart is still broken, the wallet is still empty, and the bottle is still battled. Only, now, instead of having a bunch of fat, sweaty hooligans glomming the front of the stage in a neo-barbaric dogpile, you wouldn’t be hard pressed to see a fine young lady up front singing along and shakin’ what she got.
WHEN THE FABRIC DON’T FIT THE FRAME is the album…JOE COFFEE is the band…open your mind, instead of your mouth…you’d be surprised of the results..
